Family Fun Bike

Saturday, 10 April: It's a cheerful morning. Saraswati family is gathering together for a fun bike program at Ancol. More than 30 bikes are neatly parked at the Dufan Bike Post.

Ah.. here comes Keisya, all excited, the first to arrive with mom and dad. Teachers hurriedly drive off to set up the posts while others start arriving.. Still in progress setting up the posts, when herly’s phone rings. …O, more children and parents have arrived, very excited, and they are going straight for the bikes. Alright, let’s hurry then!

Back at ‘base camp’ children are all set to ride with mom, dad or mbak/om, the younger ones are securely tied to mom or dad with sarongs.
Herly briefly explains the activity: find post1, 2 and 3 and then back to base camp, use the given map, and get back within 1 hour. The first five family to reach base camp will get attractive prizes…tickets to Bali?? Ok, GET SET GO!

Post 1: Group 1 arrives…Alright! Everyone is to make a newspaper helmet! follow the directions here. Come on parents..no help from teachers….hurry , hurry! Group 2 is here. Wait..is that Gian fast asleep behind Dad?!

Post 2, Parents are to make licenses for children and come up with a yell for

Post 3, Ah..the final challenge - Unscramble the words – 8 ‘food’ words…uuh, not so easy, eh?! Try harder parents.. or no breakfast back at base camp.

Everyone finally reaches base camp on time, hot and hungry. Five families get their sought after prizes---tickets or towels! doesn't make a difference ..everyone is just as happy as can be!

Time for beef burgers. Ros distributes the burgers. Meanwhile, Reno's mum sets out her sarong right under a tree shade, and out comes all kinds of snack from spaghetti...hagelslag bread, nuggets...and you name it! Parents enjoy a chit-chat while the children explore Herly's 'TOA'.

A great family time together… anyone care for a family fun walk/jog sometimes?
